What is the Maximum term for which a domain can be registered? Any ideas?

I have seen people registering it for 5 yrs or 10 years but then what would the maximum term for which one can register a domain?

For how long do you personally, register your domains?

I dont know how long. At my hosting company max is 10 years, but I normally only buy for 1 year at a time - there is no difference in the price.
