A very simple website with no nothing, customer uploads text and images. I install WP, plugins, template and do a little setup... No less than $2K! Most 'normal' sites I will make for something like $5K and if it is a webshop de luxe... I wont even mention the price .-)
Do you mind sharing some of your work? I might be interested in buying one, also what kind of websites that you make? Do you make templates for website that holds files for users to download? And if you don't mind, why do you think people should pay you 1000$ for templates.
Thanks

If a template should be programmed from start to finish it would be pretty expensive. If we buy a template for $50-$70 there is a lot of work included in customizing it. Not just the normal setup but often a lot of extra css work.
When I set a price on a website I have to think about:
Taxes
My pension
Who is financing my vacation - cant make money in those weeks
Computer equipment
Rent
My education - can't make money while learning new products
What if I get sick
Transportation (to and from customers)
Hiring external designers etc.
Just to mention a few...
