  Link Out To Authority Sites
Posted by: TonyF - 06-05-2015, 04:16 PM - Forum: Strategic Search Engine Optimization (SSEO) - Replies (1)

It’s easy to forget about an important Google algorithm update from 2003. Hilltop is still relevent today. Hilltop is essentially an on-page SEO signal way that tells Google whether or not a page on the web is a hub of information. How do they know what pages are hubs? The quality and relevancy of the outbound links. The pages you link out to tend to reflect the topic of your page, and pages that link to helpful resources tend to be higher quality than pages that only link to their own stuff. Pages that link out to awesome resources, establish themselves as hubs of helpful content in the eyes of Google. Link to at least 3 quality, relevant resources in every piece of content that you publish. This will show Google that your page is a Hilltop hub.

  Get Creative With Affiliate Links
Posted by: TonyF - 06-05-2015, 03:54 PM - Forum: Pinterest - No Replies

In February 2015, Pinterest introduced a new rule that bans all affiliate IDs on Pins. Every affiliate URL you share, your affiliate ID gets stripped and visitors will click on a link which you will earn no commission. To still do affiliate marketing write a blog post. In that blog post, review the affiliate product and add images and testimonials, plus add a buy button. Use your blog post URL and Pinterest won’t find any affiliate IDs to remove and you can safely continue marketing.

  Be Smart With Hashtags
Posted by: TonyF - 06-05-2015, 03:39 PM - Forum: Twitter - Replies (2)

Use hashtags strategically, and don’t overuse them. Make use of trending and high traffic hashtags. You can also include a brand or celebrity to target a wider audience. Don’t overdo it though, on Twitter, more than two hashtags looks like spam.

  Auto Posting Tweets To Facebook
Posted by: TonyF - 06-05-2015, 03:36 PM - Forum: Facebook - No Replies

When you first start out on Facebook or Twitter, you may think it's best to sync up Facebook and Twitter accounts to automatically cross-publish content. When you post to Twitter, it also gets posted to Facebook and vice versa. This might help you save time, but it won't give you a successful social media presence.

People who follow you on Facebook aren't the same as those who follow you on Twitter. Facebook fans and followers may prefer different content in different formats delivered to them at different times of the day than people on Twitter. If you want to grow your audience, you need to post content they care about. When you link up your Facebook and Twitter accounts, your posts end up with weird, Twitter specific formats for your Facebook posts and vice versa. It's obvious you just synced up your accounts and this may result in zero engagement.

Don't rely on automation instead, create tailored posts for each platform. The extra time you put into creating custom content will pay off.
